The use of objective outcome measures can complement and enhance clinical judgement in identifying service needs for EPI clients. However, routine implementation of standardized outcome measures remains a challenge for many EPI programs. This symposium aims to introduce and demonstrate the use of outcome measures that are currently being used to track client’s functioning over the course of their treatment at EPI programs across Ontario. Suzanne Archie will provide an overview of the reliability of 28 outcome measures used by the five university-based EPI programs in Ontario. Emily Cole and Suzanne Archie will demonstrate how to conduct the AIMS [Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale] test. Elham Sadeh will discuss the impact of treatment on client quality of life in a first episode psychosis program using the Wisconsin Quality of Life Scale. Elmar Gardizi will present outcome data collected on first episode psychosis patients treated at the Cleghorn EPI Program. Christopher Bowie and Elmar Gardizi will demonstrate how to conduct the SCIP [Screen for Cognitive Impairment in Psychiatry], a scale that assesses cognition. They will present reliability and validity of the SCIP in an early psychosis sample.
